I received emails that both Federal and State tax reports were accepted within hours of e-filing. I chose direct debit for both Federal and State tax payments. The state tax refund was paid on the date I chose, but the Federal taxes have not been withdrawn and it is 10 days beyond the date I chose. How do I determine if there is a problem?

The IRS does take some time to withdraw funds. They are backlogged. Try waiting up to a few days before the May 17 deadline before prompting a secondary means of payment. Otherwise, it could end up that you double pay and then have to wait for a refund.
To determine if there is a problem, check your account here: IRS: View Your Tax Account Information.
If the payment has still not been withdrawn and you are within a few days of May 17, go to IRS Paying Your Taxes for options or see 2020 Form 1040 Instructions, page 62. Payment options include:
Sorry it has taken me a couple of days to get back on this problem. I logged in to the IRS Account Services web site. Their records do not indicate any tax return for 2020. I have the same problem with the tax return for my son John A. Conley. (We prepare the taxes on my computer using the downloaded version of TurboTax.) The federal and state tax reports were reported to TurboTax as accepted. Both state returns were processed on the day specified in the e-filing. The email that reported the federal tax reports were accepted did not have any tracking information to verify the location of the tax report. Is there some additional information that TurboTax may have to help locate if the federal returns are simply waiting in a cue somewhere or have been lost? I just need some level of confidence the files have been lost. Thank for the help.
The IRS is the only agency that would be able to answer your question at this point. If you have verification your returns were filed and accepted, then they were successfully filed and transmitted to the IRS.
You will just need to be a bit more patient as it is taking a bit longer to process returns this year as there were several changes in the tax law during the actual tax season.
Please see the link below for additional information as far as when your payment will go through.
There is also a handy reference at the bottom of the following link as well that you can click about what to do after you file your taxes. I recommend clicking on that as well as it provides more direction as to what to do if your payment does not go through as you directed it to.
As long as your payment is scheduled to go through by May 17th, you will be considered filed and paid before the due date.
When will your tax payment go through
I, too, am still waiting for my IRS debit. The state (CA) took the money from my checking account immediately on 4/12/2021.
My tax payments cleared the bank last Thursday, 22 Apr. So patience was the answer.
