Pending after 3 days

Good morning folks,

I recently moved from NY to Florida for work and have had a pretty intricate tax return this year. I also have 1099 NEC. Its Thursday, and I submitted my taxes on Monday (72 hours or so). I'm thinking either due to the non resident form (I claimed 68% of my income was earned in NYS, which is accurate however it is the same employer) or something with my business expenses is potentially flagged or holding up the process. Would anyone know if things were incorrect it would just be rejected, instead of accepted  - or does it stay in pending while the IRS reviews something they want a closer look at? I know I mistakenly claimed only mileage, even though I claimed the all expense method last year, which apparently you can't do per the IRS website. Does it seem like that would cause this time of pending hold? I've also read that many TurboTax users are having the same issue. I haven't gotten any updates from turbotax and they had stated there would be an email within 48 hours if it did/didn't get accepted - nothing yet.

It is not unusual for a tax return that is subject to review stay in pending status for several days, or more.  Being reviewed does not mean that there is anything wrong with your return, or that you did anything questionable.  Nothing you described is out of the ordinary.  It just means that there is more to it that simply matching Tax ID numbers and amounts electronically.  It's a busy time of year for the IRS, so just be patient.   As for updates from TurboTax, they cannot give you any updates.  They have nothing to do with the approval process and get no information about it until your return is accepted, or rejected by the IRS.  When your return is accepted (or rejected), TurboTax will be notified and  then they will send you an email.
