I am trying to track down and amend a 2017 tax return that I filed incorrectly. Anyone know the best route to take? Thank you.

What are you trying to change? It is too late to get a better refund for a 2017 tax return.
To access your prior year online tax returns sign onto the TurboTax website with the User ID you used to create the account - https://myturbotax.intuit.com/
Start the 2023 online tax return by entering some personal information then click on Tax Home on the left side of the screen.
On the Tax Home webpage -
Scroll down to the section Your tax returns & documents. Click on the Year and Click on Download/print return (PDF)
If you used the desktop CD/Download editions installed on your computer, the only copy of your tax data file and any PDF's will be on the computer where the return was created. TurboTax does not store online any returns completed using the desktop editions.
Or go to this IRS website for free federal tax return transcripts - https://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript
For a fee of $43 you can get a complete federal tax return from the IRS by completing Form 4506 - http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f4506.pdf
TurboTax does not support tax year 2017.
You can contact a local tax professional to assist you in completing the amended 2017 tax return. Or you can use the IRS website for a 2017 Form 1040-X.
IRS Form 1040-X (2017) - https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-prior/f1040x--2017.pdf
IRS Form 1040-X instructions (2017) - https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-prior/i1040x--2017.pdf
A tax refund for tax year 2017 will not be paid as it is beyond the 3 years from the 2017 due date.
Thank you. I filed the form incorrectly. I put my personal taxes and was left with an outstanding tax bill. Why hasn't this come up yet? Well, I've had some life trouble and haven't been "present", we'll say. I's just like to see my options of refiling, etc. It was only 22k as total income and had to pay 7k. I never dealt with this but now it's reared its head. Anyhow, it was my responsibility. I know this is TMI.
