So I found out yesterday my ex husband owes the IRS for taxes in 2016 and our divorce was not finalized then and so since he hasn’t filed his and I have they are going to deduct it from my refund. I called the offset number and had no offsets and talked to them last week and they said everything was fine. I am getting both credits and since the 15th it’s just saying being processed. They said there was nothing I could do since we were still legally married and they couldn’t tell me a time frame of when I would get the rest of my refund. Has anyone else had this happen to them and if so how long until you received your refund?

The IRS doesn’t provide any projections for how long an offset will delay returns, but it's typically not a lengthy delay. If you have not received a letter yet from the IRS, you should be receiving one with a explanation and amount. When you call the refund offset hotline there are two choices - one is debt incurred to non-consumer and govt agencies and the other to consumer agencies and personal. Be sure to check both of them.
You can go to this link Topic No. 203 Reduced Refund there is a phone number you can call to see if there was a refund offset.
