I think my return should have been much larger with solar panels and our income.

no. at best only the IRS. and certain errors will never be found by the IRS. for example you gave $1000 to charity but enter it as $100. or gave only $100 but entered as $1000. parents letting their kids take the exemption when it should be the parents.
