I need a corrected W-2, the money I will be receiving back is extremely wrong. How do I go about getting a new one? I asked my employer and they said there's nothing they can do.

If you file with an incorrect W-2 you risk the chance of rejection and having to amend.

It is better to wait for the corrected W-2 (W-2C) than to wait for the IRS to respond.

Another danger in filing with incorrect information, is wrong or improper calculations. You can file and then wait for the amendment, but this is highly discouraged.

What I recommend is to fill out your refund to the end, but not submit. Once you receive the proper W-2, make your needed changes and submit.

Having misinformation from your W-2 can result in a delay, so it is much better to wait for the corrected W-2 (Known as a W-2C)

TO OBTAIN A CORRECTED W-2 (W-2C): Contact your employer.

Why do you think the W-2 itself is wrong? Or are you just dissatisfied with the amount of your refund?

Well I have 2 w-2's, same type of company for the same amount of time working there and same pay. One W-2 has 3 numbers, which is what its supposed to have and the other only has 2 numbers and it doesn't make sense to me as to why I will only be getting back $27, it just doesn't seem right when every year I do my taxes and it has 3 number. (I'm a part time employee, and a student)
