My wifes name on our return is misspelled with one extra letter. What should I do?

The IRS matches the first 4 letters of your last name with your Social Security Number, if that is incorrect then your return will reject and you can fix your name. If you misspelled your first name or the end of your last name and your return is accepted by the IRS, then it is too late to correct it now.  You can just make sure to correct it when you file your taxes next year. Nothing has to be done now.

Please don't do anything and see if the tax return is rejected due to these errors, then you can correct it. You will receive an email from us with the rejection code and instructions on how to fix your rejected tax return.
