Did you wait until the IRS fully processed your original return or did you create extra confusion by amending before the IRS fully processed your first return? You are supposed to wait for the IRS to process your return because sometimes the IRS catches and corrects mistakes and you do not end up having to amend.
Do not expect quick results from amending. It can take four months or more for the IRS to process an amended return.
You can watch for information here:

Did you wait to amend until your original return was done processing and the IRS sent the first refund or you paid the tax due? Sounds like you amended too soon. Amended returns are now taking 20 weeks or more.
Where's my Amended return?

Go by the actual 1040X. Line 18 should be your original refund amount and line 22 should be your additional refund. If you paid on your original return it will be on line 16. If there is an amount owed with the amendment, it will be on line 20.
