My return file is not opening-- I completed and file my 2016 return. I can see the file in finder and in turbotax>file>open recent, but it won't open?

You can only open a .tax file in the software itself. If you have the 2016 software installed on your computer, you can open the software and it will locate your return. From there you can view your information.  If you need to review the information on your return without using the software, you will need to save a copy of your return in a PDF. Please see the instructions below to download a PDF of your return.

Desktop:

  1. Open your return in TurboTax. - Open your return.
  2. Click the File tab.
  3. Select Save to PDF
  4. On the Forms Selection screen, you can select the official forms that were filed with your return, all forms and worksheets, or solely the personal worksheets.
  5. Click Save as PDF
  6. Select the location where you would like to save your PDF and rename the file, if you would like to do so.
