It takes about 21 days to receive your refund from the IRS when you e-file and choose direct deposit as your refund choice. Also you will get personalized refund information if you check back with Where's My Refund? once the IRS has processed and approved your refund.

You can look on your tax return on form 1040 under the refund section (line 20 area) to see if you selected direct deposit or for a refund check to be mailed to you.
