My 2020 return is incorrect. How can I fix this without filing an amended return?

I incorrectly clicked no when asked if I received a stimulus check.  I did not mean to do this and filed with this error.  I can't file and amendment, as I don't have the $3600 to repay the IRS, as I haven't received my return yet.  How long will the IRS take to correct my error and send me my correct refund?

Since your return probably calculated the Recovery Rebate Credit, you will not need to do anything at this point.  The IRS has stated they will be pulling returns that claim the credit, and will adjust your refund accordingly.  You do not need to do anything else.  You should be aware it will take longer to process your refund though.
