I had cleared out some test data from my Turbo Tax and didn't notice that it left it in before I electronically filed my returns. The PDF included a strange form at the end that I assumed was a worksheet but turns out it was a statement referred to on the 1040 but should not have been there. What do I need to do to correct that information with the Federal & State tax authorities?
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
Would the removal of the form make any changes in the numbers or tax treatment of your tax return? If not, an amendment will not help.
It doesn't affect this years taxes but I'm concerned it could affect future liabilities.
If you would clarify what the statement is and the concerning information, someone may be able to answer specific to your situation.
I'd be happy to discuss it privately.
