Mailed Return But Not Status after 6 Weeks

Hi,

I filed using TurboTax but mailed my return more than 6 weeks ago. USPS showed it was delivered with certified mail.

I have checked IRS website to track the refund but it doesn’t say the refund was received.

How can TurboTax help me here to know the status? I need the tax return for immigration purpose. Should I send another return? It’s getting late for me to submit the tax return for visa.

Unfortunately, the IRS is not currently able to process paper filed returns.

Paper Tax Returns: All taxpayers should file electronically through their tax preparer, tax software provider or IRS Free File if possible. The IRS is not currently able to process individual paper tax returns. If you already have filed via paper but it has not yet been processed, do not file a second tax return or write to the IRS to inquire about the status of your return or your economic impact payment. Paper returns will be processed once processing centers are able to reopen. This year, more than 90% of taxpayers have filed electronically.

Thank you very much for the reply. Will IRS not even update and say they received the return/mail?

I am worried because I need to send the return for my spouse visa and show a proof that I filed for 2019.

Do you have proof of mailing?

I would think that the agency you are working with would understand the issue this year. Maybe they would accept a copy of your return and proof of mailing? Wishing you well.
