J1 using turbo tax
I was staying in U.S from March 2019 till Feb 2020 by J1 visa.
At the end of the year, I received W-2 form and filed it through turbo tax.
However, I received a stimulus check and than found out that turbo tax is only for residents and I was suppose to use sprint tax for filing my tax.
As for stimulus check, I found out a way to send it back to IRS so it is not a problem however, am just concerned that I filed my tax on a wrong platform.
Would there be any problem if I don't fix it? Such as cannot go back to U.S?
I've tried to contact sprinttax and tried to get 1040X form however, the system is asking for a information which is not on my W-2 form so I'm having hard time fixing it.

Please use the steps below to file the correct return. Do not use 1040X in sprintax since you did not use them to file the original return.
- Download Form 1040X
- Enter your name, current address, and social security number (SSN) or individual taxpayer identification number (ITIN) on the front of Form 1040X.
- Don’t enter any other information on page 1. Also, don’t complete Parts I or II on page 2 of Form 1040X.
- Enter in Part III the reason why you are filing Form 1040X.
- Complete a new or corrected return ( Form 1040NR, etc. you can try to use sprintax for this).
- Across the top of the new or corrected return, write “Amended.”
- Attach the new or corrected return to the back of Form 1040X.
Please see Form 1040X Instructions for additional information.
