delays seem quite common this year. did you report any unemployment compensation on your return or were you covered by Obamacare? The IRS may be delaying refunds for those that reported those items so it can adjust the refund for these items. it will take time for it to reprogram its computers. use the IRS website to keep checking your refund status. i saw one thread on the internet that said the IRS would not be making these refunds til May. hope it was wrong.
Thank you for the quick response. I hope it’s not May because of the small amount of unemployment I got. I wish I could speak with someone at the irs.
I did get unemployment and I got a 1099 and added to my tax return I got 8700
The unemployment exclusion was a one-time change for the 2020 return @Eddy206. Unemployment should not delay a 2021 return, if that's what you are asking about.
The IRS can research the status of your refund if it has been more than 21 days since your return was accepted and you still have not gotten your money. Call 1-800-829-1040. Be aware. The phone lines are backed up. The IRS opens at 7AM local time in every time zone. The earlier you call, the better your chance of speaking with someone.
Also check Where’s My Refund?
I have it just tells me it's still being processed how do I talk to a live person
This is normal. It can take anywhere from a few days to 3 weeks to update and show the status. The 21 days is just an estimated time frame. The IRS began processing returns on 2/12, you may not find a record of it or the website may say that you have put in incorrect information when tracking your federal refund. As your return moves through the system, the status of it will be updated.
Since Turbo Tax will not have the status of your refund, continue checking the Where’s My Federal Refund tool for updates. Updates are made daily, usually overnight.
What does pending mean?
Please continue to track your refund from the IRS.
