@yayoid3333 You e-filed it in 2021? What does it say in your account? Does your TT account say the return was "accepted," "rejected", "printed," or "ready to mail?" If it says anything other than "Accepted" it was not e-filed successfully and should have been fixed and re-filed or sent in by mail.
If it says "Accepted"----what steps have you taken during these past several years to follow up and see what happened?
Call the IRS: 1-800-829-1040 hours 7 AM - 7 PM local time Monday-Friday
When calling the IRS do NOT choose the first option re: "Refund", or it will send you to an automated phone line.
So after first choosing your language, then do NOT choose Option 1 (refund info). Choose option 2 for "personal income tax" instead.
Then press 1 for "form, tax history, or payment".
Then press 3 "for all other questions."
Then press 2 "for all other questions."
- When it asks you to enter your SSN or EIN to access your account information, don't enter anything.
- After it asks twice, you will get another menu.
Press 2 for personal or individual tax questions.
Then press 3 for all other inquiries
It should then transfer you to an agent.
A 2020 return that was filed timely would have been filed in 2021. When did you file your 2020 return? Did you e-file it by the filing deadline, or did you mail it in at some later date? The last possible date you could have mailed in a 2020 return to seek a refund was May 17, 2024. After that, the refund was forfeited.
The IRS refund site will no longer show any information about a 2020 refund. You can check the IRS site to see if the IRS has a transcript for a 2020 return that you filed, or check your IRS online account to see what it shows.

Oh I just saw it. It said “Printed”…
@yayoid3333 Well.....the bad news is that you did not file that tax return and now it is too late. You needed to mail it in no later than May 17, 2024 in order to receive the refund, so now the refund has been forfeited and will be kept by the IRS even if you mail the return in. Sorry.
Oh yeah…. That’s very sad.
