Is anyone else experiencing significant delays getting their refund?

I put in my taxes early February and it’s now almost mid April and I still haven’t gotten a return. I have the Child Tax Credit but I still didn’t think it would take this long. The IRS hasn’t approved my returns but it also said they don’t need anything from me when I check return status

Federal and state refunds come from completely separate entities.  There is no rule as to which one will come in first or how long it will be between their arrival in your account.

TurboTax gives you an estimated date for receiving your refund based on a 21 day average from your date of acceptance, but it can take longer.  “21 days”  is not a promise from TurboTax or the IRS.

First, check your e-file status to see if your return was accepted:

https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/efile-status-lookup/

Once your federal return has been accepted by the IRS, only the IRS has any control.  TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.

You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount  (line 35a of your 2025 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:

https://www.irs.gov/refunds

To track your state refund:

If you chose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund, that will take some extra time, while the third party bank handles the refund processing

If you are getting earned income credit on line 27 or additional child tax credit on line 28 You are subject to the delay required by the PATH act.  Do not expect your refund before early March

Note:  “Accepted” is not the same as “approved”.  TurboTax tells you the e-file was accepted if the IRS deems that there is enough information on the return for them to take it in for processing.   Only the IRS can approve of the refund, which is a later stage of processing.  If the IRS approves your refund they will provide a date for the refund to be issued.

If you you have not received your refund yet, you can use this IRS tool Where's My Refund? to check on the status of your refund. It provides updates regarding the processing of your tax return. Since it is beyond 21 days for e-filing or 6 weeks for mailing, you should verify your IRS account transcript or contact the IRS directly for a status update.

You can call the IRS: 1-800-829-1040 hours 7 AM - 7 PM local time Monday-Friday. Make sure to have a copy of your tax return available.

You can also sign in to your IRS Online Account using ID.me on the IRS.gov website to see if there are any letters or notices.

If you don’t already have an account on IRS.gov, you will be asked to create an account and validate your identity. You can use this link to create an online account Online account for individuals. This is the most up to date information regarding your tax return. You can also look under Letters & Notices in your Online Account to see if there is a letter or notice that is going to be sent to you regarding your refund.

If this shows that his refund was issued but not received, you can start a trace with the IRS by filing Form 3911. Refunds can be claimed for up to three years after the tax deadline.

Is anyone else experiencing significant delays getting their refund?

I have the same issue. I just called IRS to see what's going on and they confirmed with me that it is still in processing and that I should call back if it takes longer than 10 weeks from the filing date.

Me as well. They said I was supposed to get my refund on March 20th, and now it is April 10th and I have neither my state or federal refund.
