State refunds and Federal refunds are processed separately.  The Federal refund is processed by the IRS.  Once your return is accepted, the next step is for the government to approve your refund.  It can take anywhere from a few days to 3 weeks for your return to go from accepted to approved.  

Even though the IRS issues 9 out of 10 tax refunds within 21 days, it is possible your return may require additional review and take longer to process.  Please take a look at the following to help put your mind at ease:

IRS representatives will be able to research the status of your refund if your return was accepted (received) more than 21 calendar days ago. Call them at 1-800-829-1040, but prepare for potentially long wait times.
