I am 18 years old, and I originally filed my taxes as "someone cannot claim me as a dependent." About two weeks ago, I received a letter in the mail from the IRS, and they are requiring me to send in a form 1095A and form 8962, due to the fact that I filed as not being a dependent. I am planning on filing a 1040-X in order to change my filing status so that I am a dependent. Do I still need to complete the two forms the IRS requested? If I change my filing status to dependent, I do not believe the IRS needs these forms, but I would like to make sure.

You are not changing your filing status as you are still going to file as Single I presume, but you may need to amend your return to indicate that you are a dependent on another tax return. As for your 1095-A, after you change your answer to Yes, someone else can claim me, the next question will be Will they claim you?
The IRS wants Form 8962 because there are premiums tax credits on your 1095-A that need to be reconciled.
