First, TurboTax 2025 Desktop requires Windows 11 (not Windows 10) or a supported macOS. If you’re on Windows 10, the installer won’t run. Windows uses a .exe installer; Mac uses a .dmg/.pkg.
Next, redownload from your Intuit account. Don’t run from the browser’s downloads bar; open your Downloads folder and double‑click the installer.
- Windows: Right‑click the installer > Run as administrator. Temporarily disable antivirus, ensure Windows is fully updated, reboot, then try again.
- Mac: Move the app to Applications before opening; allow it in System Settings > Privacy & Security if you see a gatekeeper prompt.
If you still have issues:
- Check that the file isn’t quarantined or incomplete; compare the file size to what’s listed on the download page. Redownload if smaller or if you see “download blocked.”
- If on Windows 10, use TurboTax Online instead (same features for personal returns) or upgrade to Windows 11.
