We cannot provide any information about your refund. You must wait at least 24 hours after you get the acknowledgement e-mail that your tax return was received by the IRS

What exactly does this mean If turbo says the return was "accepted"?
Best answer by ErinH

Accepted means that the IRS has received your refund. Approved means that your return has been fully processed and is approved by the IRS. Once accepted, it can take anywhere from a few days to 3 weeks (21 days) to go from acceptance to approval, and this timeframe is unrelated to how, where, or when you filed, nor is it connected to how quickly you got your refund last year. If your refund is still processing, it has not been approved.

The most accurate place to check your status is the IRS's Where's My Refund? site. You should wait at least 24 hours after filing your return with TurboTax for the IRS's Where's My Refund to update and reflect the status of your return.

Hi there group- so, like many of you, this is my first year going through this whole ID Verify process (I do have the EIC and CTC filed).  I learned a lot of great things from the responses in this group such as, changing your filing status to "single" when trying to check your refund status, and how to check your transcript; which brings me to my question- "Does anyone know what it means if your 2018 account and record transcript links are available to click to view but, when you view them it has a "processing date" of April 1st 2019?  What is the processing date?  I know my cycle code of 20191105 meant that I was loaded to IRS master file on March 14th 2019 but have no clue about this processing date.   We haven't even reached April 1st yet, so I am confused.  Does anyone have any additional information or insight on this particular issue?  Thanks much!

Yea just put in your federal tax. Someone in this comment section said that and I thank you! It actually worked after days of trying to figure this out.

@Ahkeem  To track your Federal refund, visit the Where’s My Federal Refund? site  You may also download the IRS2Go app to check your Federal refund status

Note: You will need your social security number, filing status, and refund amount in order to track your refund.

Be sure when checking Where’s My Federal Refund? site that you are entering only your Federal refund amount. This can be found on your Federal form 1040, line 21a. If you paid any fees out of your federal refund, use the refund figure prior to the deduction of he fees. Also if you filed joint, be sure to enter the filers name that appears first on the return.

You can try calling the WMR automated hotline instead: 1-800-829-1954 or visit the IRS website.

Some tax returns can disappear from WMR while they are being processed.

Please see below.

It can sometimes take a few weeks to be approved. Most refunds are issued within 21 calendar days of acceptance. This will provide you with more information.

My return is accepted but still not approved. Is there a problem? Should I be worried?

I e-filed my 2020 tax on Feb 23rd, 2021, and get accepted email from Turbotax. However,  I went into Where's My Refund on Mar 1st, 2021, I got

"We cannot provide any information about your refund. Be sure to:

. Verify your filling date.

. check with your tax preparer or tax software provider, or

. verify your received your electronically filed acknowledgement email"

I went  into Where's My Refund this morning again, the information was changed to:

"We cannot provide any information about your refund. You must wait at least 24 hours after you get the acknowledgement e-mail that your tax return was received by the IRS"

And I also went into my IRS transaction account. and I got the following:

"Your 2020 Tax Return Has Not Been Processed.

Turbo tax admin, please tell me what was happen?

Thanks

Mine has been saying that for weeks now, it told me accepted through TurboTax on February 10th. I only filed for my stimulus that I didn’t receive, but they claim it’s all considered the same. I haven’t been able to reach a live person at the IRS, it’s all automated. Does anyone have a number to reach them directly? Also, I haven’t received any letters stating that there was a mistake, so I really don’t know what’s going on. Some answers would be nice!

If you e-filed, make sure the return was e-filed successfully and accepted:

  • Re-check your e-file status
  • Make sure to enter the federal refund amount without the state refund, less any TurboTax fees if you chose to pay any fees out of the refund.
  • If you are married filing jointly try using the Social Security Number for the name that appears first on the return.

If you have already tried the above on the IRS WMR website, you can check the status of your refund by calling the IRS directly.

Please see the below Turbo Tax FAQ for additional information: Why is there no record of my return at Where's My Refund (WMR)

I'm having the same problem.

I filed my 2020 1040 through TurboTax on March 24, 2021.
I got an email from Turbo Tax later that day stating that my Federal Return had been accepted by the IRS.
I also got an email from Turbo Tax later that day that my State return had been accepted by my State.
The State has since processed by State tax return. But the IRS Where's My Refund site can't identify that I even filed a return.
I filed as married filing jointly, and on the Where's My Refund site I entered my SSN as the top listed filer on the return.
I checked the box that my filing status was married filing jointly.
I had no fees owed for filing, I simply have a refund.
I entered the federal refund amount, and nothing else.
Nothing on the Where's My Refund site is supposed to be any more difficult than that, and it never has been before.
But when I submit that information on the Where's My Refund site it says it can't locate my return and asks if I am sure that I entered all of the information correctly, so I go back and re-enter the information correctly again.
It gives the same response that it can't locate my return and asks if I am sure that I entered all of the information correctly.
It asks what date I filed and if I filed electronically or by paper.
I enter that the filing date was March 24, 2021 and that I filed electronically and then hit submit.
I then get a screen telling me that they cannot provide any information about my refund and that I must wait at least 24 hours after I receive the email acknowledging that the IRS received my return.
I received the email from Turbo Tax on March 24, 2021 stating that the IRS had accepted my federal return.
Today when I logged in and had this experience is April 5th.
Both the clock and the calendar establish that April 5th is more than 24 hours after March 24th.
So, WTF?
Is there a way to even know that the IRS really received my return?
And what do I do from here to get it processed and get my refund???
Why is Turbo Tax sending me emails saying that my Federal return has been accepted by the IRS and weeks later the IRS Where's My Refund website still thinks I never filed anything, apparently.
And why can't I just ask a Turbo Tax agent these questions directly?  (H&R Block's "help center" link in their software takes you to a direct line chat with an H&R Block employee who helps walk you through crap like this.)
I instead used Turbo Tax and am left not knowing what to even do next to get my return found by the IRS, or processed, or receive my refund.
I'm at a total loss.
But any help would be very appreciated!

You will need to call your State Department of Revenue to inquire.
