My 2016 tax return status says "accepted" since last year. how can I have it filed?

If your 2016 tax return is showing accepted this means that your tax return was already filed and accepted. Accepted is the status of your tax return – not your tax refund.

Once your return has been accepted (received) by the government, they take over the refund status update duties, since they hold the purse strings. The status in TurboTax will remain as "accepted.

If you were due a refund for 2016 and never received it, please contact the IRS at 1-800-829-1040  hours 7 AM - 7 PM local time Monday-Friday for assistance with your prior year tax refund.
