I want to file a 2017 short year trust return, but the 2016 version only will read in 2015 tax files. How do I do a short year 2017 return using 2016 turbotax?

If you don't want to wait for the 2017 program to come out in 2018 then to use the 2016 program  you can BUT you CANNOT transfer in the 2016 info (like you could with the 2015)  AND the return must be mailed in. You will need to start a new file and enter everything in manually so print a copy of the 2016 return to use as a template.

Before you start make sure to save the 2016 PDF file under a new file name so you don't accidentally overwrite the 2016 archived file.
