If my tax form says I paid the NYS Tax I owe on my amended return, but I have not paid it yet, how do I amend it again to show how much I need to pay to NYS State Tax?

Don't amend it again just to show how much you need to pay.  The tax return should show the correct amount of tax, and it assumes that you already paid the amount from your original return. That's why we recommend waiting until your original payment is processed before amending.

As long as the tax is correct, the State of NY will sort out how much you owe. Your amended return will show either a balance due which is in addition to the original balance due, or an overpayment, which reduces the original balance due. Amending a second time would only confuse things.

Amending returns can be confusing, so if you have more questions about this, please comment here with more information.

Thank you for the response. My current issue is that I amended my tax return due to receiving a late 1099-MISC. I have the PDF, amount, and address for the Federal taxes that I owe back, however, I did something to my NYS Return where I now cannot see how much I owe (I do remember the estimated number, but nothing is displayed on my return, amended return, or turbotax), nor where I would make that payment to NYS, and I am not given the same PDF print out as the Federal return (although I realize this may be because the NYS is electronically filed?)

I don't see the amount on my original return or my amended return, and the numbers turbo tax is displaying don't match the numbers that was originally displayed when I filed the amend with the added 1099-MISC.

I have the necessary documents for the federal tax I owe back, therefore I am going to print and send that in. However, my question is how do I get the money I owe to NYS (i.e. where, how much, by check, somewhere on turbotax?)

Thank you for your help!

I see that you haven't mailed in these amended returns yet, so they haven't been filed.

Can you see your original NY return and is that accurate?  Would you mind giving me some information  from your IT-201 and the IT-201 X that you see (not personal identifying information)?

Is the amount on line 19 of your IT-201-X higher than the amount from your original IT-201? If so, is the difference the same as the 1099-MISC?

Did you follow these instructions for amending your state return? <a rel="nofollow" target="_blank" href="https://ttlc.intuit.com/questions/2824532-i-need-to-amend-my-state-return">https://ttlc.intuit.com/q...>

Any additional details would help.
