The fact that you used the standard deduction on your return does not affect any education credits you may obtain from your 1098-T form if you have qualified education expenses to claim.
If you have paid tuition not covered by scholarships or grants or if on the other hand you had scholarships or grants in excess of your tuition, you'll need to amend your return/
If you have already
filed, wait to see if your return is accepted or rejected by the IRS.
If your return is
rejected. you can correct any errors on the return and add the form 1098-T and resubmit your return.
If your return is
accepted, you need to file an amended return to report the form 1096-T.
If you expect a
refund, wait until you receive the refund before submitting your amended
return.
