ID verification

My tax return was ACCEPTED Jan 24. My timeline bar on the IRS track my refund showed it was processing. I claim children so I knew not to expect any update until mid February. 

I got a letter in the mail Feb 12th saying I needed to verify my identity. I did the "ID Me" online that same day. I checked wheres my refund a couple days after just to see. It says "we're sorry but your tax return processing has been delayed beyond the normal timeframe". I checked it again today, says the exact same thing still. I've tried calling every number and ext possible (including the one on my ID verification letter) for the IRS every day for the past 2 weeks. None of the numbers are accepting calls due to high call volume, even when I try to call at 7am! 

And Turbotax wasn't any help when I called. 

Has anyone had issues like this? Or having to do all this this year??

ID verification

If you had to verify your identity, then they will need more time to process the return. 

 

General timeline is 4-6 weeks from the date you were able to verify your identity.
