I was sent a letter saying that I need to fill out form 8962 as we forgot to input the 1095-A when filing. Is it possible to amend the return and just add form 1095-A?

The form 8962 is really confusing and I don't know what I'm doing on the form as I've never had to fill out this form before. I do know how to add the 1095-A form so I was hoping that I could avoid filling out 8962 but would that not be enough when they sent me a letter to fill out this different form?

No, you do not have to amend your tax return.  The IRS is just asking for additional information.  The link below has information on how to comply with the IRS request for Form 8962.
