I want to apply part of my Ohio refund for 2017 to my 2018 taxes. I was not able to enter an amount. How do I enter an amount before I file my (paper) taxes?

If you want to add, edit, or delete an OH state refund (overpayment) of state taxes for next year, the section is located in the state area of the program. Please review the following instructions for more information:

  1. If you are using TurboTax CD/Download, open appropriate tax return.
  2. On the top, select STATE TAXES tab.
  3. On the Let's work on your state return screen, select Continue.
  4. On the Your State Returns screen, select Start/Edit on Ohio.
  5. If you have not gone through the OH state tax screens yet, answer questions and select Continue to the A few things before we wrap up your state taxes screen.
  6. If you have already gone through the OH state tax screens, on the Your 2017 Ohio taxes are ready for us to check screen, select Start/Edit on Other situations.
  7. On the A few things before we wrap up your state taxes screen, under Other situations, select Start/Revisit on Apply your refund to next year's taxes. See attached screenshot. Please note this section may not be available (visible) if you do not have a refund (overpayment) and instead owe taxes.
