Yes, if you submitted your tax return, but you have a 1095-A you didn't include, the IRS will reject your tax return. So, you don't need to amend, you need to fix your return.
Here's how to do that:
- Sign in to your TurboTax account.
- Select Fix my return.
- On the Let's fix your return and then refile screen, select Fix it now or Revisit.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to edit your information. If the program doesn't take you to the spot to enter your 1095-A, select the down arrow to the right of Deductions & Credits, then Review/ Edit.
- Select the down arrow to the right of Medical.
- Select Start or Revisit next to Affordable Care Act (Form 1095-A).
- Answer the questions and continue through to enter the details from your Form 1095-A.
- When you're finished, select Continue to File and continue until you e-file your return.
