After you file

Yes, if you submitted your tax return, but you have a 1095-A you didn't include, the IRS will reject your tax return. So, you don't need to amend, you need to fix your return.

Here's how to do that:

  1. Sign in to your TurboTax account.
  2. Select Fix my return.
  3. On the Let's fix your return and then refile screen, select Fix it now or Revisit.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to edit your information. If the program doesn't take you to the spot to enter your 1095-A, select the down arrow to the right of Deductions & Credits, then Review/ Edit.
  5. Select the down arrow to the right of Medical.
  6. Select Start or Revisit next to Affordable Care Act (Form 1095-A).
  7. Answer the questions and continue through to enter the details from your Form 1095-A.
  8. When you're finished, select Continue to File and continue until you e-file your return.
