I sent more 10k to my father who lives in Mexico. Is there a special place I should add to my taxes? Or how do I claim it?

You do not report the income sent to your father.  This was a gift and gifts given are never reported on tax return.  Since the gift was less than $16,000 you do not have to file a Form 709 to report the gift given.

Gifts to family members are not deductible.  There is no place to enter that on your tax return.    If your father has a SSN or ITIN you might be able to claim him as a dependent and get the $500 credit for other dependents.

IRS interview to help determine who can be claimed:
