I selected direct deposit but received a check instead?

I received my Federal taxes via direct deposit but received a check for my state taxes, why is this?

I selected direct deposit but received a check instead?

The state may not have been able to complete the direct deposit for whatever reason and reverted to a check. Too many reasons to guess.
