I recieved a $506 federal return but my state refund was zero, this has to be wrong, how do I check?

I believe my state return should have been over $200 but turbo tax had me down for zero, how can I check on this?

Best thing to do is to go back over your original return and double check everything to make sure all the information is correctly entered. If you do find errors, you can file an amended return to correct those errors and see if that changes the refund amount you think you are supposed to get.

You should not try to amend your return until the original return it has been fully processed and you have received your refund or your payment has cleared.
Amended returns do not “catch up” to your original return and replace them; they are processed as two separate returns.
Amended returns have to be printed and filed by mail.  It can take the IRS up to 12 weeks or longer to process them.   If you are due a larger refund than on your original return, your amended return should only show the difference and you will receive a separate check for it.  If you owe money on your amended return, it will show only the new amount owed, you will have to mail a check with the return. You can check the status of your amended return by clicking here:

If there are not errors, compare 2017 return to 2016 return and see what has changed from the last year filed to this years. If there was a change in income or anything else, it can effect the amount of return you are supposed to get back.
