I received a check from the IRS, and it says 12/2018 Tax Refund. How can I find out if this is legit or not, and why I'm getting it?

It's a very small amount and nowhere near the 2020 refund I'm expecting, so have ruled that out.

I'm wondering if it's a scam?

Call the IRS.

Looks like it could be refund interest payment.

Phone line is worthless. Can't get a live person unless I want to spend the entire day on hold.
