What do you mean by "edit" the return? If you have not yet filed the return you can make changes to it before you file it. But you will need to use the desktop download software on a full PC or Mac to do so, and the return can only be filed by mail.

If you have already filed the 2023 return and need to correct or add something, you need to amend the return.
Wait until your original return has been fully processed before you amend, and make sure you have saved a pdf of the original return before you amend.

Do not expect quick results from amending. It can take four months or more for the IRS to process an amended return.
