You've already e-filed your return, correct? Has it been accepted by the IRS?
If so, I wouldn't do a thing. All of your figures are unchanged, so your tax calculation is no different. Keep a copy of both the original and the corrected W-2 and put it with your printed tax return for 2020. Don't change anything on your TurboTax return. Just make a note to yourself of what happened and keep it with the return. It's easy to forget.
If the IRS has any questions, they will contact you by mail. I doubt that you'll ever hear a word about it.
I filed online, and it was rejected, so thinking it was a glitch of some sort, I opted to print the return. I got an email from the head of HR with the correct EIN and that a new W2 was being mailed out the day after I opted to print. Now my return is locked, and it says I can't do anything until the 1040X comes out, which was supposed to be 2/26, now it says 3/27. Wondering if I should just create a new account and refile, or manually correct the information on the printed form. Thoughts?
Well, @charleyfaria , I am so sorry. I didn't realize that your return had been rejected.
A rejected return is as if it was never sent, so "maybe" I can help you get back into your printed return to make the change.
