I itemize but forgot donations in prior years. Can I enter them in the carryover section of the return, or must I submit an amended return for each prior year?

You can only claim deductions in the year donated.

You could only carry over any contributions you couldn't deduct because they exceeded your adjusted-gross-income limit usually 50% of your AGI.
