I filed my w-2 Jan 2021. I then amended my return in May 2021. Both on turbo tax said accepted. IRS site says it’s still processing. Will I ever get my return?

Eventually ... the amended return could take 6 months or more to process AFTER the original return has finished processing.

Did you wait to amend until the first return was finished processing and you got the first refund?  You should have.   Returns are taking longer than 6 months to process this year. You have to keep waiting.

you will but it could still take a few more months.  you filed before e-filing officially opened in Feb 2021. so it sat on Turbotax servers until then. there were law changes after January and I have no way of knowing if those changes had an effect on the delay. for some of the law changes the IRS did not want an amended return. then you probably filed the amended return before the original was fully processed. a no-no. so now it's taking the IRS time to go over both returns.

Thank you all! Unfortunately my knowledge of filing is very minimal. I didn’t know you weren’t supposed to amend while the original was processing. 
This leads me to my next question. Will I have trouble filing next year? @Critter-3 @VolvoGirl @Mike9241

you may have issues with e-filing.  since it's taking the IRS so long to process 2020, your 2020 AGI may not be on record when you file 2021. Turbotax will automatically use the AGI on the first filed 2020 return.  if the IRS has not updated its records there will be an AGI mismatch and your return will be rejected.   then you may have to either change the 2020 AGI to $0 or indicate you didn't file in 2020.  can't say what will work since the AGI issue also affects millions of other taxpayers who timely filed but the IRS did not timely process to get the AGI into its database.   in prior years some taxpayers have posted that no matter what they tried they could not e-file (even though they used the correct AGI, tried $0, or indicated they did not file in the prior year)  so ended up having to mail in their returns. all you can do is see what happens when you try to e-file 2021.
