I filed by mail in july of this year. Single, 1040. I received a letter stating a forgot to sign signature from state. Which was faxed back asap. No status available yet?

If I haven't received tax updated from mail return in 5 months should I efile?

No  E-filing is permanently closed for 2024 returns.   Contact the state and find out if they received the return that you signed.   If they did not receive it then follow the state's instructions to either fax or mail it to them again.
