I filed 2019 return via Turbo tax on 3/26/20. I was advised via email (and ongoing status) from TT that it was accepted. IRS says otherwise and must refile it. How?

Have not had satisfactory response from TT.  I owe and cannot set up payment plan without accepted tax return.   Must refile.  TT refers to IRS "Where's My Refund."  Not helpful.

For us to best help you with this, please contact us here: Contact TurboTax.  Our agents will be able to get some personal information from you to look up the eFile status of your return and can provide you with a tracing number, if needed, to give to the IRS.

This is the worst.

I have spent 4 hours on hold and speaking with the IRS on the 829-1040 number.

I do not expect a refund.  I owe money.  I cannot set up a payment plan because they do not have my return.  Not under my husbands name or SS# or my own.

They did not have my address from my 2019 return.  I received a $700 stimulus payment (after chasing it down) because they are using my 2018 return, rather than the $2900 stimulus due to the 2019 income (which would have nearly covered the amount owed).

The IRS says I MUST REFILE THE RETURN.

Getting recorded messages that do not apply, or which cover steps already taken on the TurboTax contact line with no recourse to actual help is unbelievably frustrating.

You can try again to e-FIle.

If it goes through, you will know that you did not e-File before.

If it fails, or TurboTax insists that you did e-File, file on paper via US Mail.

after your return appears in the system, you can apply online for a payment plan.

You can get Form 4868 from the IRS at www.irs.gov now.

You don’t need to file Form 4868 if you make a payment using the IRS electronic payment options.

You can pay all or any part of your estimated income tax due and **indicate that the payment is for an extension** using Direct Pay, the Electronic Federal Tax Payment System, or using a credit or debit card. Your extension is then automatically granted and you will receive a confirmation number for your records.

Any amount. even $10.00, will do.

This will give you more time to file and to then request an installment plan
