I e-filed over a week ago and the state of NC has not sent notification they have received my return. Is this normal?

At this time of year...this is normal.

Early in the tax season (January) the state processing may lag quite a bit behind Federal....some may not have even started processing, even if they have your file.

Check in this application every day (don't depend on getting an email notice)
