I called the irs to see what was up with my refund she said my return was sitting in the up in the air department and that it could take a extra 6 to 8 weeks....who tf has heard of this mess smh

Some tax returns take longer to process than others for many reasons, including when a return:

• Includes errors
• Is incomplete
• Is affected by identity theft or fraud
• Includes a claim filed for an Earned Income Tax Credit or an Additional Child Tax Credit. 
• Includes an Injured Spouse Form, which could take up to 14 weeks to process
• Needs further review in general.
