Bank account closed direct deposit impossible

I filed my return, but found out a week later my bank account that was used for direct deposit had been closed. how will my return get to me, and how much longer will it take ?

Just called IRS because my checking account was also closed and DDD is set for the 18th of Feb! She told me they will issue a paper check and it will be within 3 weeks from the 18th that I should receive it! Call back if not recieved after 4 weeks. Hope this helps!

I just called IRS myself, basically all they can confirm is that they tried to deposit the return but you have to wait about 5 weeks from the date they accepted your return for their system to update with a status of "deposit denied, paper check mailed" or "deposit accepted"; but likely if the account was closed then the bank could not accept the deposit. You should get a paper check in the mail around the 5 week mark as well but if you don't try calling back then.  1-800-829-1040

I called that number you gave but all i get is the automated system how do you get to talk to someone just found out today that bank account was closed on the 16th one week before deposit was suppose to go in was suppose to go in today 2/23/17 so what do i need to do..

When that happened to me I was able to go to Wells Fargo and they could see my check was pending and they ended up letting me withdraw the funds. I caught it within 24 hours because I didn't realize my acct was closed. Try to contact TurboTax I believe the IRS releases the the funds to them and they release it to you! I hope this helps

The bank will refuse the direct deposit and the IRS will issue a paper check and mail it to the address on your tax return. I don't know how much longer it will take.

did you find out a time frame, I too are in the same boat, My deposit date was on the 29th

Same boat...I called irs and they said up to five weeks to send a papercheck...

Did you have to amend the deposit or did they automatically revert to a paper check for you?

The IRS automatically reverts to a paper check when the direct deposit fails.

Apparently the check doesn't go back to its it goes to the bank turbo uses which is sbbt....I called n they told me I should get it within the week
