I applied 16 tax refund to 17 taxes thinking I'd owe money. I ended up not owing money, but I'm not seeing record of where it's applied. Will I receive it back this year?

Yes, you will get it back but only if you entered it on your 2017 Taxes. To do so:

  1. Log into the software and select the blue button Take me to my return
  2. Select Federal from the left side bar
  3. Then select Deductions & Credits from the categories along the top of the software
  4. Scroll down and select Show more next to Estimates and Other Taxes Paid
  5. Next select Revisit/Start next to the Other Income Taxes
  6. Answer Yes to enter your Last year's refund to apply to this year's taxes
  7. Under 2016 Refund Applied to 2017 click start next to 2016 refund applied to 2017 federal taxes
  8. Make sure you entered your last year taxes that you applied to this year, so that you get credit.
