Did my refund amount go down or is this in addition to what is already coming?

Yes. When you first begin an amended return, your refund amount automatically returns to zero. The amended return works as if you already received that refund. In fact, you shouldn't send your amended return until you receive the original refund.

Then, the amount of refund shown on your amended return is in addition to the original refund.
