To enter miscellaneous income not reported on 1099-MISC (your stipend)
This will report your stipend on line 7 of your Form 1040, and you will not be subject to Self Employment Tax.
I tried this way but it substracts a lot of money out of my state and my federal refund.
Is it possible your stipend is not taxable? For example, if the stipend is for hotel or meals and you use that money to pay those expenses and do not deduct those expenses, then the stipend may not be taxable. Please provide more details about your employer and the type of stipend.
