How do I get Intuit to support their calculations after IRS disallows them?

TurboTax calculations are guaranteed and errors are very rare.    Incorrect calculations based on data that you entered are not guarenteed - TT can only calculate using the data that you provide.

When the IRS says "calculation error" it usually means that they changed something else, such as adding income you failed to report, and then the calculations will calculate differently.   True "calculation errors" are math errors and not likely to happen.

The letter you received from the IRS should tell you what the IRS changed or disallowed.  What dies it say?

How do I get Intuit to support their calculations after IRS disallows them?

My letter from the IRS does not specify why the additional amount I owe ($989.07) differs from the amount that TurboTax calculated (refund of $12).

I am going to pay the amount so that penalties don't continue to accrue. But if your calculations are truly "guaranteed," then how will you compensate me for the mistake?

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

This is mainly a user community forum, not a direct route to TurboTax Support, but we can tell you how to reach them for help with your IRS letter.

The IRS is not always correct.    But without more info, there's nothing to go on since you said the IRS didn't say what was wrong.   You may need to phone the IRS for more info if there is no indication in your letter about what was changed.  We can tell you how to reach a live IRS agent, or perhaps there is a specific phone number to use in your letter.

TurboTax has an Accurate Calculations Guarantee which can cover penalties and interest IF it's determined that TurboTax did indeed make a calculation mistake.   It does not cover any additional tax owed, however.

If you purchased the optional Audit Support, we can tell you how to reach the company that handles that.

If you did NOT purchase Audit Support, you can still get free help from TurboTax Audit Support Center.   At the page linked below, click the blue "Get Help" button and follow the prompts to get the phone number.  Hours 5AM-5PM Pacific (8AM-8PM Eastern) Monday-Friday.
