How do i claim my electric car

I have a 2016 Kia Soul EV and i'd like to include that in my tax return.

You can enter your information for Qualifying Electric Vehicle Tax Credits(Form 8834). Please use the directions below to get to the correct area.

To Enter Form 8839:

1. Select "Federal Taxes" at the top of the page

2. Select the "Deductions & Credits" sub-tab

3. Scroll down to "Cars and Other Things You Own" and select "Show More"

4. Select "Start" next to " Energy-Efficient Vehicles"

5. Answer "Plug-In Electric Drive Motor" when you arrive to the screen asking "What type of alternative energy vehicle did you buy in 2016?"

6. Continue to enter your information
