My bank account number is incorrect the number I put was wrong number ,the right number is 42829638 need to put the right bank account information in So I can get my refund taxes
Did you already e-file? If you did NOT e-file you can go to the FILE section and change how you want to receive your refund. If you want direct deposit you need the routing number and your own account number.
You cannot change banking information while your return is in pending, nor can you change it after the return is accepted. The IRS does not allow it.
If you e-filed:
Banking information for direct deposit is wrong
If you entered incorrect banking information for your refund, you can change it if your return is rejected. If it is accepted, however, it is too late to change it. The bank will reject the refund and send it back to the IRS. Then the IRS will issue a paper check and mail it to the address you put on your tax return. Expect a delay of at least a couple of weeks to receive your refund.

I want to update a new account and routing number this account on file will be closed by July 4,22
@Sheena866 - unfortunately, once you file your tax return, the bank account information for that tax year can NOT be changed. That is an IRS requirement to protect you against fraud.
@Sheena866 If your refund goes to a closed account the bank will send it back to the IRS. Then the IRS will issue a check and mail it to the address you have on your tax return. Is the address you used on your Form 1040 correct? The IRS does not allow you to change banking information after you file your return.

@maryrender1992 - the IRS does not allow it to minimize the risk of fraud
My direct deposit
@Knottpaul55 - what is your question?
Once you submit your tax return, the IRS does not permit changes to banking information. If they are unable to direct deposit the refund, a paper check will be mailed to the address listed on the return. These are their rules.
this limits the risk of fraud
