How do I avoid the $35 early refund fee?

During the "File" step, do not choose the option to "Pay with my Refund." 

• Paying immediately with a credit/debit card eliminates the service fee charged.
• The fee is because TurboTax must use a third part bank to process the accout. 
  • The fee is the bank processing fee.
•  When prompted about receiving your refund up to 5 days early, choose to skip or decline this option to avoid the associated fee.

Look for the "View payment options" link in the File section to change your payment method.
